Recording
Applicable modes:
This mode allows selecting the focusing method that suits the positions and number of the
subjects to be selected.
¢ [Ø] will be used during motion picture recording.
Notes
In the following cases, [AF MODE] is fixed to [Ø].
In [MINIATURE EFFECT] in Creative Control Mode
In [STARRY SKY], [FIREWORKS] and [HIGH SPEED VIDEO] in Scene Mode
It will be fixed to [š] when the [FACE RECOG.] is set to [ON].
It is not possible to set [š] in the following cases.
In [FOOD] in [CLOSE-UP]
In [NIGHT SCENERY], [HANDHELD NITE SHOT] and [ILLUMINATIONS] in
[NIGHT PORTRAIT]
In [PANORAMA ASSIST], [PANNING] and [AERIAL PHOTO] in Scene Mode
It is not possible to set [ ] in the following cases.
In [SEPIA], [HIGH DYNAMIC], [PIN HOLE] and [FILM GRAIN] in Creative Control Mode
In [PANORAMA ASSIST] in Scene Mode
When [PHOTO STYLE] is [MONOCHROME]
Only [š] or [Ø] can be set during Creative Video Mode.
[AF MODE]
[š]: Face Detection The camera automatically detects the person’s face. The
focus and exposure can then be adjusted to fit that face no
matter what section of the picture it is in. (max. 15 areas)
[]: AF Tracking

Focus and exposure can be locked onto a specified subject.
The focus setting will keep on following the subject even if it
moves.
(Dynamic tracking)
[]: 23-area-focusing
¢
Up to 23 points for each AF frame can be focused. This mode
can be useful when the subject is not in the center of the
screen.
(AF frame will be same as image aspect ratio setting.)
[Ø]: 1-area-focusing The camera focuses on the subject within the AF frame on the
center of the screen.
